OFM Charts available in Rocketroute

Starting Friday 3rd of June, RocketRoute, the most innovative flight planning service, will include all of the available OFM 1:500K VFR charts in their in-app shop - free of charge. Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Germany are available from the start, but within the next two months two more countries will be added to the list, and it is probable that this rhythm of expansion will continue. We at the OFM think basic aeronautical information should be treated as public, since it is invariably sourced from public organizations, and consequently it is absurd to claim copyright over something in the public domain. Also making a business of printing paper charts to represent information which is subject to updates every 28 days, seems like an exercise in futility. The OFM charts will be available for download, and of course will be maintained up to date on a continuous basis by our contributors. I think that by now the companies that plan to make a living out of selling paper charts have begun to see the writing on the wall. Of course I must tress that the OFM information will only be relevant provided that it is constantly subjected to critical scrutiny by as large a group of users as possible.
